This year your child will be participating in a financial literacy programme called Quiddage. The process involves establishing a business, selling a product, advertising and fair trading. (it was our inquiry focus during term 1)

Your child is encouraged to develop a product at home that they would like to sell during our Quiddage Market Days. This shouldn’t be a stressful process at home for parents and we have explained this to the children.

Ideas include Arts, Crafts, Food Stalls, Construction and Activities. Your child has brainstormed ideas at school and has been earning ‘snidges’ (currency) throughout the year to spend during our Market Days and also save for retirement.

There is a tax to stop children selling products high in sugar and a tax that requires each business to spend minimal ‘real’ money outside the classroom (under $5). Children get a rebate for recycling / upcycling and reusing. Please support your child through the process of developing their product, baring in mind the costs involved when making a product, recycling, sustainability and responsibility.

Although this is not compulsory, it is a fantastic opportunity for the children to explore Financial Literacy, Market Research, Advertising, Health and Safety and operating a Business.
